Magdalena Morey: Mixed-Media Abstract Expressionist Artist
Originally form Poland, Magdalena also lived in England and Switzerland before settling in beautiful northern Spain.
Colour stimulates emotional responses and Magdalena loves to use it to explore what it means for her to travel and how experience reveals and creates layers of ourselves as our personal journeys continue. ...
The sense of anticipation, excitement and promise that fuels the drive to explore has a contrasting side and as we explore the facets of our experience we are both cracked and polished by the cultures with which we interact. Threads of separation and shards of loneliness are woven into the fabric of daily life but connections to friends and family are kept alive by technologies not available to the generations before us. This can be most clearly seen in many of her more abstract pieces, in particular her figurative pieces, which often include sharply defined lines, reminiscent of the Futurist movement, connecting and dividing concepts, elements and areas of the painting.
Magdalena normally works in layers of acrylics, watercolours and pastels. Gold leaf also features in much of her art and is a simultaneous reference to both luminosity and internal awakening."
