Lesley Anne Spowart, a native of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, cultivated her passion for art early in life, embarking on a journey that has woven through diverse mediums and locales. Her academic pursuits led her to the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where she earned her B.A. in Art History in 1979. During her undergraduate years, she immersed herself in the art world, contributing to the installation of renowned artists such as Richard Fleishner, Sol Lewitt, and Larry Bell....

Subsequently, Lesley relocated to Davis, California, to pursue graduate studies in Art History at UC Davis. Her thirst for knowledge and artistic exploration led her to further graduate work at UC Riverside and Cal State Fullerton. Throughout her educational odyssey, she played an instrumental role in installing works by esteemed artists like Beatrice Wood, Viola Frey, and John Buck.

Lesley's artistic identity is a tapestry of diverse mediums, earning her the moniker of a transformational artist. With a penchant for experimentation, she seamlessly blends beeswax, tar, photographic xerography, acrylic paint, and assorted mixed media into her creations. Her mastery lies not only in technique but also in her intuitive grasp of color, which serves as a cornerstone of her expressive vision.

In her own words, Lesley reflects on her creative process: "I have employed numerous processes and mediums... I enjoy mixing things up just to see what happens. Color choice is integral in my presentation; I happen to love color and enjoy experimenting and manipulating possibilities in my printmaking and assemblages."

Lesley's artistic journey has been punctuated by exhibitions in prominent galleries along the Monterey Peninsula, where her work has been featured in both solo and group shows. Notable venues include Gallery Mar, Carmel; American Art Gallery, Carmel; and Marjorie Evans Gallery, Carmel. Her artistry has garnered recognition and found its way into esteemed corporate and private collections, spanning across domestic and international borders.

Residing in Monterey, California, Lesley shares her life with her husband and three children, finding inspiration in the picturesque surroundings as she continues to evolve and contribute to the ever-evolving landscape of contemporary art.
